Right this moment is Juneteenth, and Halo Infinite is celebrating the event.
Whereas Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, did a lot of the heavy lifting to abolish slavery in America, Juneteenth is the day slaves in America all actually turned free.
Over two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Juneteenth celebrates the anniversary of Main Common Gordon Granger’s Common Order No 3. Granger and his military marched into the Texas metropolis of Galveston, publicly learn the order, and shortly after enforced the Emancipation Proclamation. Thus, all remaining slaves in Accomplice territory have been lastly free.
